Why fermi level changes its position after doping in a semi conductor?
After doping pentavalent impurity in semicomductor, fermi level changes its position i.e. it comes near the conduction band. In case of trivalent dopant, fermi level comes nearer to valence band.
I want the specific reason…plz help..i have to give presentation on this topic tmrw.
when any electron meets a hole in semiconductors it falls in lower energy level releasing energy in form of eletroluminescence (e.g.light emitting diode),which causes to change the position of fermi level
